Pete Brown is an author, journalist, broadcaster and consultant specialising in food and drink, especially beer, cider and pubs, about which he has written numerous books. He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme. He was named British Beer Writer of the Year in 2009, 2012 and 2016, and Fortnum and Mason Online Drinks Writer of the Year in 2015. In 2018 he became Chair of the British Guild of Beer Writers.
Andrew Daines joined VisitFlanders, the official destination marketing agency for Flanders and Brussels, in July 2012 as Director UK and Ireland based in London. With over 25 years’ experience in the travel and tourism sector, including 14 years with the UK’s national tourism agency, VisitBritain, Andrew is a keen traveller with a passion for authentic travel experiences, along with good food and drink. He is a member of the Tourism Management Institute and The Tourism Society.
Graduating from Leeds University with a degree in Politics and Parliamentary Studies, David joined the BBPA in May 2011 with more than twenty years’ experience of working in public affairs and communications, including as a special adviser for a Government Minister. David specialises in devising and managing campaigns to change public policy. He is a member of the Communications Advisory Team of the Brewers of Europe.
Dawn has many years’ experience devising and running professional development workshops and symposia. From 1998 - 2010 she was a researcher in Educational Technology at the University of Cambridge, latterly heading up the Centre for Excellence in Teaching & Learning. She has published numerous papers on staff development and e-learning. From 2010 – 2013 she ran the international series of Open Educational Resources (OER) conferences with the Open University.
Dawn is Co-Founder and Co-Chair of Norwich City of Ale and Founder and Director of PintPicker, a flavour database of UK cask ale. She set up much of the technical platforms and social structures that support City of Ale since its inception in May 2011.
Frances has worked in and with the pub, beer and beer supply chain industries for over 20 years, including heading up communications for Greene King. She runs Red Flame Communications, a consultancy that among other things; facilitates Cask Ale Week; copy edits and publicises the Cask Report; does PR for the country’s leading independent maltster; works with one of the joint-owners of the rights to Maris Otter; and advises breweries and pubs on PR and comms. Frances has sat on numerous industry committees, is the only woman to have ever sat on the Cask Marque Board and has twice been a judge at the GBBF for Champion Beers of Britain. She is a Board Director of the British Guild of Beer Writers and has been working closely with Norwich City of Ale since 2015.
Jules has worked in the beer trade for over ten years from sales, logistics, forecasting and beer planning at an FMCG brewery to running her own specialist, independent and award-winning beer shop, Hop Hideout. She is a passionate beer professional with a desire to celebrate the sector's inherent positive cultural and economic value. She is a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers and set up Sheffield Beer Week, a city-wide beer celebration in the second week of March, in 2015. In 2017 Sheffield Beer Week was highly commended in the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) Business Awards under the 'Best Independent Craft Beer Promotion – On-trade' category. She regularly sits on beer judging panels and, for the last four years, has judged at SIBA's 'National Beer Competition'.
